Wimbledon to become 14-day tournament

The Wimbledon Championships will grow to be a 14-day event from 2022, with matches set to be performed on ‘Center Sunday’, historically a break day on the grasscourt Grand Slam, the All England Garden Tennis Membership (AELTC) mentioned on Tuesday.

The primary Sunday of Wimbledon is often a relaxation day, on which event organisers work to get the courts again into prime form for the latter rounds, leading to a packed “Manic Monday” schedule.

In one other huge change, Wimbledon village bars and eating places, which host the world’s greatest gamers annually, will likely be out-of-pocket as organisers have, in a break with long-held custom, banned gamers from renting non-public homes close to the grounds.
