Ajla Tomljanovic has started her quest to qualify for a WTA 1000 match in Madrid in type.

Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic is one step nearer to qualifying for a WTA 1000 match in Madrid.

Tomljanovic, the No.17 seed within the qualifying draw, scored a complete 6-4 6-1 victory towards German Mona Barthel within the opening spherical.

Needing solely 67 minutes to safe the win, Tomljanovic saved 4 of the 5 break factors she confronted.

The 27-year-old now faces China’s Wang Xiyu within the ultimate qualifying spherical. The world No.136 upset fourth-seeded Frenchwoman Alize Cornet in three units.

Tomljanovic is aiming to hitch countrywoman Ash Barty in the primary draw. The world No.1 performs American Shelby Rogers within the first spherical – their fourth assembly up to now this season.
