Augustana Looking to Add D-I Men’s Hockey Program

On Wednesday night, ESPN hat salesman John Buccigross tweeted that Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota was planning on beginning a males’s Division I faculty hockey program.

On Thursday, the college confirmed the rumor, although gave no agency plans on when which may happen.

Augustana, though it could be the primary ever D-1 hockey program from South Dakota, is a reasonably logical match for the game. The college competes athletically in Division II within the Northern Solar Convention, a convention that features D-1 hockey faculties Bemidji State, Minnesota State Mankato, Minnesota Duluth, and St. Cloud State.

Sioux Falls is a rising hockey market led by the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede, which performs on the 10,000+ seat Denny Sanford PREMIER Middle. The sector hosted a males’s NCAA regional in 2018, and is scheduled to take action once more in 2024 and 2026.

The college stated they plan to provide extra particulars on the brand new program later this summer season or early this fall.
