Capitals Re-sign Beck Malenstyn To One-Year Deal

The Washington Capitals introduced on Thursday they’ve re-signed ahead Beck Malenstyn to a one-year, two-way contract ($750,000/$90,000). 


Malenstyn, 23, missed the whole 2020-21 season after present process surgical procedure to restore an Achilles tendon.

The 6’3”, 200-pound ahead made his NHL debut with the Capitals on Nov. 20, 2019, towards the New York Rangers and performed three video games for Washington throughout the 2019-20 season.

As well as, the White Rock, B.C., native recorded 15 factors (7g, 8a) in 46 video games with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Throughout the 2018-19 season with the Bears, Malenstyn recorded 16 factors (7g, 9a) in his rookie AHL season and was named Hershey’s IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the 12 months.

In 120 profession video games with Hershey, Malenstyn has recorded 31 factors (14g, 17a).

Previous to becoming a member of Hershey, Malenstyn gained a WHL Championship in 2018 as a member of the Swift Present Broncos, recording 11 factors (4g, 7a) in 26 playoff video games.  He completed his WHL profession with 128 factors (65g, 63a) in 238 video games with Swift Present and the Calgary Hitmen.

Malenstyn was chosen with the Capitals’ fifth spherical choose, 145th general, within the 2016 NHL Draft.
