Males’s Tennis Bounces Richmond, 6-1, in First Outside Match of 2021 – William & Mary Athletics

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Taking part in its first outside match of the season, William & Mary males’s tennis posted its Twentieth-straight victory over former Colonial Athletic Affiliation rival Richmond, 6-1, on Friday afternoon on the Millie West Tennis Facility.
 
How It Occurred
– The Tribe (2-3) captured the doubles level for the third time in 5 matches with matching 6-1 wins on the high two spots.
– At No. 1, the Tribe tandem of graduate scholar Brenden Volk and sophomore George Davis continued their sturdy play, dropping only one sport in a 6-1 win over Josh Keitelman and Daniel Kliebhan. Volk and Davis improved to 3-2 on the high spot with their second-straight win.
– Graduate scholar Lev Kazakov and junior Joseph Brailovsky received for the second time in three matches at No. 2, topping the Richmond pair of Campbell Erwin and John Walsh.
– The Tribe received a trio of straight-set matches at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 to place the match away, whereas notching three-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4.
– Volk received on the high place for his second win of the spring. He topped All-Atlantic 10 First teamer Matt Fernandez, 7-5, 6-4.
– On line 5, Brailovsky dropped simply 5 complete video games in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Erwin. He evened his spring mark at 2-2.
– Senior Finbar Talcott received his third-straight match and improved his team-best singles mark to 4-1 with a straight-sets win at No. 6. He upended Richmond’s Josh Keitelman, 6-2, 7-5.
– Davis received in three units at No. 4 to even his season ledger at 2-2. He received the opening set from John Walsh, 6-2, earlier than the Spider participant claimed the second, 7-5. Davis outlasted his counterpart in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-6.
– At No. 3, senior Sebastian Quiros and Alex Wernink traded 6-0 units with Quiros rallying from a set deficit. Within the third, the Tribe senior picked up his second win of the spring with a 7-5 win. It marked Quiros forty eighth profession singles triumph.

The Tribe returns to motion when it opened CAA play at Elon on Sunday, March 7, at 1:30 p.m.
