Canadiens have three extra video games postponed as a result of COVID-19

The Montreal Canadiens will stay out of motion by way of the weekend.

Late Tuesday afternoon, the NHL introduced that Montreal’s video games versus the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday and Friday and the crew’s Sunday showdown with the Ottawa Senators are all postponed due to the league’s COVID-19 protocols. Monday’s matchup between Montreal and Edmonton was scrapped after Canadiens forwards Joel Armia and Jesperi Kotkaniemi landed on the league’s COVID-19 protocols checklist.

No make-up dates for any of the contests had been introduced within the league’s assertion. It is hoped Montreal can reopen crew amenities after the weekend and in the end play on the Senators on March 30.

Whereas each crew understandably desires to keep away from in-season pauses and coronavirus-related considerations, this unscheduled break may permit Montreal main goal-scorer Tyler Toffoli to return from the lower-body damage he suffered in final Friday’s additional time loss to the Vancouver Canucks. Toffoli has so far recorded 18 targets and is tied for the crew lead with 27 factors this season.

Edmonton is tied for first place within the NHL North standings on factors with 42, and Montreal is fourth and on 37 factors, two forward of Vancouver. The highest 4 golf equipment from every division earn playoff berths.
