LOS ANGELES, United States – Kevin Durant was fined $50,000 by the NBA on Friday over a slew of expletive-laden social media messages together with misogynistic and homophobic language.
The league stated in an announcement the Brooklyn Nets ahead was fined for “utilizing offensive and derogatory language on social media”, noting that Durant, who had apologised for his remarks, had “acknowledged that his actions had been inappropriate.”
The 32-year-old famous person stated late Thursday he was sorry that the messages — a part of an offended personal trade with actor and comic Michael Rapaport — had emerged within the public area.
“I’m sorry that individuals seen that language I used,” Durant instructed reporters.
“That’s probably not what I need folks to see and listen to from me, however hopefully I can transfer previous it and get again on the market on the ground.”
Durant lashed out at Rapaport in a sequence of direct messages despatched through Instagram after the actor had criticized the previous NBA Most Useful Participant’s conduct throughout a post-game tv interview final December.
“I obtain threats and disgusting messages DAILY, however by no means in my wildest goals did I feel @KDTrey5 (Durant) could be amongst them,” Rapaport wrote in a Twitter submit containing a number of screenshots of the messages.
“The Snake himself is now threatening me, citing my spouse and desires to struggle.”
