China’s Xiamen Marathon pushes through with 12,000 runners

BEIJING — The 2021 Xiamen Marathon kicked off in Xiamen, Fujian province on Saturday with a complete of 12,000 runners.

Initially scheduled for January 3, the race was postponed to April 10 following a round issued on December 31 by China’s State Council activity drive on combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 Xiamen Marathon has attracted 67 excellent contestants, together with 54 male runners who’ve completed a full race inside 2:35:00 and 13 females inside 2:50:00.

Yang Dinghong, the winner of the boys’s division, mentioned each the course and the service at Xiamen Marathon was fairly good. “I used to be nicely ready for this race after three months of winter coaching,” he mentioned.

The primary Xiamen Marathon was held in 2003 and has been an annual occasion ever since. In February, the race gained the World Athletics Elite Platinum Label, changing into the second to win this label in China after the Shanghai Marathon.

On April 11, the organizing committee of Xiamen Marathon co-hosted the European Olympic Marathon Qualification Race along with the Italian Athletics Federation in Italy’s Siena. The race can be the Tuscany Camp World Elite Race of the Xiamen Marathon.
